Among the Thugs

I’m about halfway through finished reading the book Among the Thugs by Bill Buford. It is a book about football clubs in England. It’s a very fun read so far and I felt like taking a break and drawing up something. I drew a bunch of fans at the game carrying on and drinking beer. Here are some reviews of the book I found on Amazon:

“A grotesque, horrifying, repellent and gorgeous book; A Clockwork Orange come to life.” —John Gregory Dunne

“An important, perhaps prophetic, book … both exciting and sad at the core…. [Buford is] a superbly talented reporter.” —The New York Times Book Review

“Brilliant … one of the most unnerving books you will ever read.” —Newsweek

Like Michael Herr or Ryszard Kapuscinski, Buford has witnessed events which can only be compared in intensity to those of a war … an unflinching look into the festering soul of England … a fuckin’ great read.” —David Byrne

Animated, witty, and so pungent you can taste the stale lager.” —Washington Post Book World

It’s been awhile since I’ve done anything for this page. So I decided to draw this Wrestler/Lucha libre guy. After finishing him I realized I had no reason to draw him, but since I was drinking a Omission beer(the Pale Ale kind) I turned the drawing into an advertisement for this wonderfully magic beer that doesn’t hurt my tummy!

What I’ve been up to

It’s been far too long since I’ve updated this site. If you follow any of my other blogs you may have seen some of these already, and if so I apologize. I finished my sketchbook for The Brooklyn Art Library’s Sketchbook Project 2013. I am dropping it in the mail tomorrow. You can check out their website @ http://www.sketchbookproject.com/

Drag me to Hell!

I love this movie, it’s getting close to Halloween and I have already watched this movie 3 times this year. I decided to make a poster for the movie so here it is:

A bunch of stuff

It has been awhile since I have posted anything on this page (because I have been so busy with Penandmarker.wordpress.com), but I figure its about time I updated this page.
I am going to post a bunch of illustrations that I have completed in the past month or so.

This first illustration was just a finished version of something I drew for my other blog. You can see the original drawing here.

This was an illustration I did for myself. My buddy Josh has a movie night once a week and it inspired me to draw this.

This illustration was based on an article about Latin Americans that are being denied entry to the US because officials are assuming that tattoos mean they are involved in gang related activity. People with no criminal convictions are being turned down for green cards and residency. You can read the whole article here.

This was an illustration that I did based on a drawing that I did for Pen and Marker. It was just a cleaned up version of that drawing.

I have really been slacking as far as posting on this page recently because I have been so preoccupied with Penandmarker.wordpress.com. I can’t wait to finish up my 365 days of drawing so that I can spend more time on larger projects.

Anyway, till next time… see you guys later.

Refresh

This week over @ Illustration Friday the topic was Refresh. This was the first time I saved an illustration as a .PNG which allows me to keep the transparency. You can’t tell too much because my websites background is white, but the border around the image is transparent. This guy is having a great time drinking out in the ocean in his inner tube, he had a hard week and he felt it was time to refresh… but we all know what happens when you drink and tube…

I also used this post as an excuse to repost one of my favorite illustrations that I made last year. I noticed that the was quite a similarity between this one and the one I created today.
Anyway…hope you enjoy!

Acrylic Painting!

It’s been a little while since I have updated last. The weather has been beautiful and I have been spending a lot of time outside recently (for leisure and yard work). I posted a piece on March 15th for Illustrationfriday.com and over the past weekend I made two companion pieces to it. Here they are:

Shades

This weeks topic for IF is Shades. I kept it simple and clean for this weeks illustration. I made this digitally but I might turn it into a stencil as well, I think it would work real nice as a stencil.
