This weeks topic for IF is Shades. I kept it simple and clean for this weeks illustration. I made this digitally but I might turn it into a stencil as well, I think it would work real nice as a stencil.
Teenage Obsessions

This weeks “IF” word was Obsession, I had a hard time at first coming up with an idea. Then this popped into my head. I remember an 80′s horror movie in which the main character was obsessed with horror movies/props. Although I can’t remember which movie it was (or what the kid looked like), this was my inspiration. For a little while I was thinking about doing it as a self portrait, but I realized that I would have wanted to do add Batman, Superman and a few other comic heroes as well as some video game characters or systems. I realized that didn’t work as well as the sci-fi/horror movie kid. Looking back now, I kinda wish I put a movie reel or something on his shirt instead of the skull (although I do like how the skull turned out).

I always wanted one of these when I was younger. My Dad used to launch toy rockets when he was younger, and would bring it up every once in awhile when I was growing up. This was a really fun Illustration to make and I even got to sneak a skull onto the rocket!

The scanner makes it look a little different than it really does, but it still looks cool. Acrylic/Pencil/Watercolor.

I don’t really like sketchbooks and almost all of my sketches end up on scraps of paper, napkins or blank spots on newspaper ads.
Anyway, hope you guys like!
Work in progress…
Here’s something I started working on tonight, I usually don’t like showing unfinished work but I thought it would be cool for people to see how I work. None of the color is the final color (its just there to give me an idea how some things will look when filled in. Also, all of the red scratches and notes are exactly that, scratches and notes. They will be gone in the final version. Anyway…here is what I’m working on right now…
